About the Sanctuary

What We Do

We rescue, rehabilitate and provide a safe sanctuary for wildlife until they are ready for release back into the wild.

From owls that have ingested poisoned mice, joeys (kangaroo, wallaby and possum) and bats that have lost their mums, birds caught in storms or by cat and dog attacks, to reptiles that have been injured - we look after everything and transport wildlife to other carers if it is a specialist species.

We also have a number of domestic parrots in our care that are permanent residents. These residents have previously been abused or were no longer able to be cared for by their owners.

Who We Are

Tennille Bankes is a wildlife carer who live in Inglewood Queensland. She rescues and rehabilitates our amazing native wildlife before releasing them back into the wild.  The sanctuary where she operates provides care for abused, neglected, injured, orphaned, or displaced wildlife.  She aims to inspire others to support the wildlife and reach out for help if an injured animal is found.

Join the Cause

Wildlife sponsors are urgently needed. We are seeking businesses and individuals to assist us in continuing to care for the native wildlife of Goondiwindi, Texas, Millmerran, Inglewood and surrounding areas.  It costs a a lot to rescue and rehabilitate our local wildlife. Fuel, food, specialised milks, medications, washing, heating and so much more to get injured and orphaned wildlife back to where they belongs in the bush. We are self funded and rely on donations from the public to help. At the moment we are in desperate need of assistance as the wildlife continues to come in needing our help.

We are calling out for wildlife sponsorships! This is a great initiative that helps with the day to day costs of caring for the wildlife and you get to know the animal you are sponsoring!
For a one-off payment of $150, you can sponsor an animal for the time they are in care. You choose your wildlife friend and receive a photo, a certificate of appreciation and updates on their welfare and (hopeful) release.

You will also be acknowledged during updates on our Facebook page, website and Tiktok page. Please - if you are a business in Goondiwindi, Inglewood, Millmerran,Texas or surrounding areas (or even a wildlife loving individual) we would love to hear from you! We have many superstars just waiting to be sponsored.

Wildlife Are Not Pets!

It is illegal to take a wild animal and keep it as a pet. If you do find an injured or orphaned animal the first thing you will need to do is get it to a vet so they can assess them for injuries or illness before organising a wildlife carer.

Please do not message us asking for advice on how to feed the wild animal and get offended when we tell you that you’re doing the wrong thing. Do what is right by the animal and get it to the vet or a carer. They don’t deserve to be stuck in a cage the rest of their life because you think it’s cute.

We will not give out care advice for wildlife. You need to have the proper training and the end goal is to always animal returning to the wild.

Do the right thing and get the animal the care it needs.

Permits, licences and authorities monitor Queensland's native wildlife and it's protected by legislation that aims to conserve biodiversity by protecting wildlife and their habitats. All native birds, reptiles, mammals and amphibians are protected, along with some invertebrates (certain butterflies, spiders and scorpions).
